Gratituesday

Filed under: Gratituesday — Amy @ 3:02 pm

After waking Saturday morning to a wet basement and a leaking hot water heater I’m grateful for

  • being able to pay cash for a new hot water heater. Even though it hurt to dip into my emergency fund that I had just fully funded in December.
  • already being off work on Monday so I was available when the plumber came to install my new water tank.
  • not letting the incident ruin my whole weekend. I’ll be honest I was upset about it for a good part of my Saturday but in the past this would have thrown me into a bad mood for days.

This week I’m going to:

  • Spaghetti, Salad and Garlic Bread

This should be enough food for me this week because I have book club on Wednesday and we eat there.

I’m also going to try these White Chocolate Cranberry Muffins, they look delicious and I have all the ingredients already.

Help Those in Haiti

Filed under: Misc — Amy @ 9:38 am

Yesterday I donated $50.00 to the people of Haiti through Food for the Poor. Over at Money Saving Mom, Crystal and her husband are going to give $10.00 to Compassion International for everyone who blogs about what they specifically did to help those in Haiti.  I know times are tough here in the U.S. for a lot of people however we are extremely blessed compared to most in this world.  Even if you can’t give financially please keep the people of Haiti and all the relief workers in your prayers.

Small Successes

Filed under: Small Successes — Amy @ 10:35 am

My small success this week include:

  • Making a hair appointment for Monday-I think it might be a year since my last cut.
  • Yesterday choosing to take a deep breath and relax rather than getting upset when I was locked out of the house through no fault of mine.
  • Going to the gym before work this morning.

Tackle it Tuesday

Filed under: Tackle it Tuesdays — Amy @ 11:07 am

For my first Tackle it Tuesday, I’m picking a pretty easy one but if it’s that easy don’t know why it took me nine months to do it. I made a hair appointment today for Jan. 18th. Now for some this might not be a big deal but I have a phobia about getting my hair cut. I’m lucky if I get my hair cut once or twice a year. So not only am I going to get my hair cut but while I’m there I’m going to schedule my next appointment so I won’t be able to put it off for so long.

Seeing as I’m just feeding myself I don’t actually menu plan. I normally just cook 3 or 4 meals a week using the leftovers for lunch. If you want to see tons of different menu plans check out Menu Plan Monday at orgjunkie.

This week I’m making

  • Soft tacos, spanish rice, tomatoes and green peppers
  • Grilled pork chops ( I love my George Foreman) with a lemon pepper seasoning, sweet potato, green beans and rolls.
  • Baked boneless skinless chicken thighs marinated in a garlic and herb dressing, brown rice and broccoli
  • Chicken Quesadillas with some carrots.
