New Start

Last time I used Weight Watchers to lose the weight, this time around I’m just going to track my calories and eat balanced meals. I’m going to start at 1800 calories for my daily max. When I go 2 weeks without losing any weight I’ll drop my daily calories by a hundred, never going below 1500 calories a day. If my weight loss stops and I’m at 1500 calories a day I will increase my activity level. To start I’m going to go to the gym 3 times a week for cardio and start using the stairs at work.

Food Journal for 02-08-10

  • 1/2 of whole wheat bagel-90 calories
  • 1/2 TB of peanut butter-50 calories
  • apple-70 calories
  • chocolate milk-210 calories
  • 2 clementines-100 calories
  • turkey sandwich with cheese and mustard-275 calories
  • yogurt-100 calories
  • 2 cookies-130 calories
  • 1 cup carrots-55 calories
  • 1 oz humus-80 calories
  • protein bar-170 calories
  • chicken soup-300 calories
  • salad with tomatoes-50 calories

Total calories for the day was 1680 and that was with wasting 210 on chocolate milk that I didn’t really need but I didn’t want to throw out. I totally need to get over that, it’s better to waste the food then eat it just because.

I went to the gym and did a cardio kickboxing class for an hour. It was very challenging, a few times during it I had to stop and just march in place but I didn’t quit so that was good.  It was hard to go in the studio though because I was the heaviest one there but I did and that makes me proud.

There it is  in all it’s glory. The most I’ve ever weighed. I can’t believe I’ve let this happen. About 6 years ago I lost 50 pounds and was down to 135, a weight I hadn’t been since junior high. I think I might have maintained that weight for about six months but then I started gaining about 10 pounds a year. Now that I’m about to embark on this weight loss journey for the second time I have confidence that I can lose the weight but I still need to figure out how to keep it off. I’m going to use the many months it’s going to take to lose the weight to figure out a way I can maintain the weight loss for life. I’m going to use my blog as a way to keep myself accountable to the changes I want to make in my life with regards to food and exercise. If I get up the  nerve I may post pictures of my journey.
