Help Those in Haiti

Filed under: Misc — Amy @ 9:38 am

Yesterday I donated $50.00 to the people of Haiti through Food for the Poor. Over at Money Saving Mom, Crystal and her husband are going to give $10.00 to Compassion International for everyone who blogs about what they specifically did to help those in Haiti.  I know times are tough here in the U.S. for a lot of people however we are extremely blessed compared to most in this world.  Even if you can’t give financially please keep the people of Haiti and all the relief workers in your prayers.

  • grocery store/errands
  • Doug and I are going to the roller derby downtown, that’s what he wanted to do for his birthday

Being Happy In Whatever State You Find Yourself In

Filed under: Misc — Amy @ 1:45 pm

I had a funny conversation with Kris today. She said she thought of me this morning after her and Mike had a fight. She was thinking how lucky I am to not have to fight with anyone in the morning. I had to laugh because as I was shoveling snow this morning I was thinking how lucky Kris is that she doesn’t have to worry about the snow.

It reminded me of a radio clip I heard a couple years ago where the speaker said if you aren’t happy living in Michigan you aren’t going to be happy in California and then he related that to marriage. That if you are an unhappy person single just getting married isn’t going to make you happy or the reverse, if you’re unhappy married getting a divorce won’t make you happy.

This was a light bulb moment for me, where I decided that even though I was still single and didn’t have the family I wanted, I had to start enjoying the life I had and stop just going through the motions.

Hello world!

Over the last couple years I have enjoyed reading various blogs on the Internet on a wide array of topics. So I have decided with the start of a new decade to establish my own blog. My blog’s purpose will be to motivate me in accomplishing some changes I want to make in my life spiritually, financially and physically. In the spiritual category I need to work on finding the joy in my life and not focusing on the negative. Financially I have spent the last four years paying off $6,000.00 in credit card debt, paying off one car loan and buying in cash a new to me car, paid off a $10,000.00 second mortgage and fully funded my emergency fund. Physically of course I would like to lose weight but more importantly I want my focus to be taking care of the body God gave me. I have been blessed with excellent health and I need to do my part to make sure I don’t waste this gift. I’m sure I’ll post on various other topics as they come up, if I stick with this blog longer than I usually keep my New Year’s resolutions.
